Kempo Jujitsu Student Testimonial

Kempo Jujitsu - What it can do for you??

True Student Testimonial (some details have been removed for privacy)

”Lance & Belinda

My name is Darron ... and I am a Prison Officer ...., I don't know if you remember me, but I was a former student at the DAA until problems with an old neck injury prevented me from continuing my training.(and it broke my heart).
Since ceasing my training officially with DAA I have tried to maintain the skills taught to me by the Academy with light training with my mates AKA punching bags who are all in to the MMA scene but do not train themselves. Needless to say after a few training sessions each, all bailed on me after a while. I think because my Idea of "light training" is a bit different to theirs or they might have thought the throws, strikes and submissions of the UFC & Pride didn't come with their share of aches and pains,
Friday the 6th of May after doing some shopping I was walking to my car with both hands full of groceries. As I got near my car I was approached by two males in their 30's, one of which asked for money. I explained that I'd spent the last of it on my shopping but his mate (who was alot bigger than I)didn't like this answer and from my left side he hit me-HARD to the left side of the face. I'd dropped my shopping on the ground and if it wasn't for my car being behind me, I would've fell and possibly been hurt a lot worse. As he drew his hand back for another punch I struck him with a cross, which sat him down-his mate (also bigger) then grabbed me and I was able to throw him to the ground before retrieving my shopping and getting the hell out of there. One I had returned home I went to inspect the damage done to my face-which was surprisingly not that painful. I then discovered an inch cut between my left eyebrow and the bridge of my nose, which, due to my own laziness is yet to receive treatment. Later I pulled a small shard of glass from the gash meaning this person has hit me - punch style with a bottle or an improvised knife of some sort.
... This email is mainly a HUGE thank you. If it wasn't for the training I'd received at the Academy....well as a father, I dread to think what might have happened. Prisons are hard places full of some terrible characters, but out on the street you never know who or what you're up against and I feel your training has provided me with the confidence and skill to survive in both environments.
So thank you, Lance and Belinda - I do hope to return to training with you as soon as I can.”

Thank you Darron for courage in relaying your story, you're an inspiration. Cant wait to see you back at DAA!

DAA Black Belt!

After 4 dedicated years of training, many tough and gruelling gradings, it is with pride that DAA presents its first Junior Black Belt.
Gareth join DAA in March 2007 and immediately showed promise and great potential to be a future black belt of DAA. Gareth battled through all the normal trials and tribulations that juniors go through, including breaking his arm in a rollerblading accident, but always returned to Jujitsu more dedicated and stronger than ever.

With the support of 4 selected DAA members, Gareth fought, threw down and submitted his way through a 2 ½ hours grading to successfully complete the first leg of his martial arts journey and become the first Junior Black Belt of DAA.
Sensei Lance proudly awarded Gareth his own personal Shodan Ho belt that he wore himself for many years with pride, to now wear as his own.

WELL DONE Gareth!!

DAA SUCCESS AT C-CLASS SHOOTO!

DAA is 3 for 3!

Congratulations to Mike Hotsinki on his debut MMA bout on Sunday 20th February at the C–Class Shooto Competition.

Mike started well on his feet landing a few well placed punches before taking his opponent down several times and gaining the mount position. After a few attempts at finishing a figure four, Mike swung for the Armbar but was unable to finish it when his opponent escaped and passed Mikes guard. The end of round 1 saw Mike easily survive a Guillotine attempt from his opponent.
After a short exchange in round two the fight went to the ground once again with Mike recovering from his back to gain the mount again climbing high and setting up the figure four, but as Mikes opponent struggled to defend the shoulder lock Mike once again swung for the Armbar and finished his opponent.

Well done Mike and congratulations on a great fight you did us all at DAA proud!
